Mo Yee Poon / SOLICITOR

mo yee poon

Mo Yee holds Bachelors degrees in both Linguistics and Law and is a native Cantonese speaker, also fluent in both Mandarin and English.

He has a wide ranging experience in different areas of the law. Before joining Y T Choi Lawyers & Notary Public, he worked for a trust company overseas, helping Chinese clients establish trusts instruments. Mo Yee has also worked for an immigration law firm in Wellington and a criminal law firm in Auckland, and has gained experience in litigation work in both civil and criminal proceedings. He now has a focus on property and family law.

Mo Yee believes very strongly that justice is one of the main elements for maintaining harmony in a society. However, Mo Yee believes that for most migrants in New Zealand, the language barrier is a significant hindrance in accessing justice, due to unfamiliarity with the law and difficulties in understanding the different concepts of law between New Zealand and their home countries. Mo Yee personally aims to make a difference in the community by acting as a bridge to overcome this language barrier, by helping Chinese clients in particular, to gain access to a fair and open justice system.
